Low temperature compression set rig, EV 09

EV 09 is a rig for testing compression set at low temperatures according to ISO 815-2 or other technically equivalent standards.

At first sight EV 09 looks similar to the relaxation rig EB 02, but they measure different things. The EV 09 rig for compression testing is for measuring the elastic recovery after a test piece has been held compressed at low temperatures for some time.

By using the EV 09 rig in combination with a modified laboratory freezer with a special lid the Low Temperature Compression Set test can be performed without touching the test piece, according to ISO 815-2. All adjustments of height and releasing the compression are made outside the freezer thus improving the accuracy of the test results.

The EV 09 rig is by default equipped with a digital gauge (0,001 mm) for the smaller type of standard samples according to ISO 815-2 B. If testing with the larger sample (ISO 815-2 A) is also wanted, necessary accessories must be purchased, see Options below.

The piston is made of titanium and the test weight corresponds to the load for thickness measurements according to ISO 23529. The sample can remain in the test rig for the whole test period and during the recovery time.

The spacer EV 09.02 is a required accessory for the rig, to assure the correct compressed height at 25 % compression of the standard sample with a height of 6,3 mm and a diameter of 13 mm. The EV 09.02 spacer is for testing with ISO 815-2 sample B. For testing with sample A, you will need EV 09.03 and EV 09.06, see Options below.

A complete low temperature compression set test system requires the following components:

EV 09 – Test rig, one per sample.
EV 09.02 – Spacer for the test rig, required accessory for the rig.
ET 03 11 LT – Laboratory freezer low temperature freezer -10 to -45 °C, 130 litres volume (or other freezer of your choice).
ET 03.01-6 – Conversion kit for the freezer (available for 6 rigs), this means that Elastocon adapts the freezer for this type of test, where the test rigs upper part will go through the lid of the freezer.

ED 04 – Computer (Windows).
EC 10 – Basic software package which must be combined with one license per rig you want to use for testing (EC 10-x).
